Transport Ministry of New South Wales (NSW) has awarded a contract worth approximately A$955m ($745.2m) to Laing O’Rourke to facilitate renovation works at Central Station in Sydney, Australia.

Laing O’Rourke is set to refurbish the station and build new metro platforms at the Central Walk as part of the deal.

The renovation project will also include the construction of new platforms and a tunnel to link Chalmers Street with a new metro station

"A joint venture (JV) between Vinci Construction Grands Projets and Hochtief Infrastructure has secured a €460m ($570m) design-build contract from Metroselskabet."

It will also include the refurbishment of the Northern Concourse and Central Station.

The upgrade works are scheduled for completion in 2022, while the construction of platforms and 30km of track is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

Laing O’Rourke is slated to collaborate with Woods Bagot, John McAslan + Partners, GHD and Aurecon to carry out the contracted works.

A joint venture (JV) between Vinci Construction Grands Projets and Hochtief Infrastructure has secured a €460m ($570m) design-build contract from Metroselskabet for the development to develop Copenhagen’s Sydhavn Metro Line (Line 4) in Copenhagen.

The six-year deal will see the construction of dual, 4.4km-long tunnels, in addition to five underground stations and two passenger crossover bridges.

The JV will also conduct various ventilation, architecture and electrical works as part of the arrangement.

VR Group has selected a ticket vending solution offered by US-based process services firm Conduent.

Conduent will supply 130 Expert 6000 ticket vending machines for deployment across VR Group’s Finnish rail network under the agreement.

The installation of new ticket vending machines is expected to enhance passenger experience across the country.
