Under the deal, VolkerFitzpatrick will build additional stabling facilities at the current Ilford Depot, which is located between Ilford and Seven Kings.
The scope of works also includes providing detailed design, enabling works, manufacturing, supply, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and hand over of railway depot facilities at the Ilford Yard Stabling facility, in East London.
The firm will also be responsible designing and building ten new sidings for housing Crossrail trains, as well as building staff accommodation and modifying existing facilities at the yard.
Other shortlisted bidders for the contract included Balfour Beatty Construction Scottish & Southern and VINCI Construction.
Construction under the project is scheduled to start in summer 2013 and is expected to be completed in 2016.
According to Crossrail, the site will remain an operational depot during the C828 works associated with the provision of rolling stock stabling facilities.
When fully operational in 2018, Crossrail will pass through 37 stations and run 118km from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west, through central London in new twin-bore 21km tunnels, to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.
About 60 new trains will be required to deliver Crossrail services and the rolling stock will be stabled at Old Oak Common Depot, Ilford Depot, Gidea Park, Plumstead, Maidenhead and Shenfield. Under the European procurement rules the contract will have a ten-day standstill period.
