The South Korea Railroad Corporation has announced a final plan to extend the operation of KTX bullet trains to Incheon International Airport from Busan and Mokpo.
The KTX bullet train extension will connect to the Seoul Station-Gimpo International Airport section covering 20.7km of the Incheon Airport Railroad.
Bypass facilities will be built at Unseo, Gyeyang and Digital Media City stations to enable low-speed trains to stand by while KTX trains pass, as the Incheon Airport Railroad has only one track each for inbound and outbound travel.
The high-speed trains will stop at one station between Seoul and Incheon Airport stations.
The bullet trains aim to increase profitability of the new railroad and improve convenience for international travellers.
Construction of the section is scheduled for completion in late 2010.
