India’s Western Railway has introduced handheld explosives and narcotics detectors on its premises to enhance safety.

The device uses ITMS technology to detect and identify microscopic traces of explosives and narcotics, taking just eight seconds for results to show up.

The railway has so far introduced five detectors worth nearly Rs7,500,000.

Along with the new portable detectors, the railway uses 535 CCTV cameras, 65 door frame metal detectors, about 150 handheld metal detectors and 17 dog squads to combat antisocial activities.
