Italy’s Ansaldo STS has won its biggest ever contract of €541m from Libyan Railroads to provide a rail signalling system for two lines.
The company, a subsidiary of Italian group Finmeccanica, will work with another group company SELEX Communications to equip the Ras Ajdir-Sirt coastal line and Al-Hisha-Sabha inland line with rail signalling systems and telecommunications and power supply equipment.
Ansaldo will use ERTMS/ETCS and GSM-R technology for the signalling solution.
The work is expected to be complete within 45 months.
