The US state of Colorado is to get an automatic train-stopping system for light rail trains on its southeastern corridor within the next six months to provide a second level of collision prevention.
The system will make a light rail train automatically apply brakes and take away propulsion power when an operator crosses a red signal.
The automatic system will work in addition to the existing automatic block signalling system that was implemented by the state’s Regional Transportation District, The Denver Post reports.
