UK’s Network Rail and Abellio Greater Anglia have completed significant upgrades on the line between London and Norwich.

The rail infrastructure operator earlier announced that it will invest more than £100m during the Easter period to enhance rail network in the country.

Under the improvement works, overhead lines were upgraded at Chadwell Heath, Romford and Ilford to enhance reliability and prepare the line for Crossrail. In addition, the track layout at Brentwood was upgraded to prepare the line for Crossrail.

Network Rail area director Steve Cassidy said: "We would like to thank passengers for their patience during this disruptive work.

"We used the time to successfully upgrade the overhead lines on this busy main line."

"We used the time to successfully upgrade the overhead lines on this busy main line, which will help to provide passengers who travel on this route every year more reliable journeys."

Cassidy added that there are major upgrading works that can only be completed when the railway is clear of trains. Further work will be carried out during the May bank holidays in the UK.
