Siemens has awarded a contract to wireless services provider Nomad Digital to supply on-board passenger Wi-Fi equipment to Eurostar’s new fleet of e320 trains.
Under the contract, Nomad will install Wi-Fi systems on the new fleet prior to the delivery to Eurostar.
The launch of the new e320 trains is part of Eurostar’s £700m investment programme in the fleet.
Nomad had earlier been awarded a contract by Eurostar to directly install Wi-Fi systems on its existing fleet of trains that are currently undergoing a major revamp programme.
Both contracts will result in the delivery of advanced, high-speed passenger Wi-Fi across Eurostar’s complete fleet.
Nomad Digital interim CEO Haydn Abbott said that the company is delighted and proud to be part of the prestigious project
"Siemens’ decision to award Nomad the contract to equip Eurostar’s e320 trains with Wi-Fi demonstrates the quality of the Nomad solution as well as the value of its client service," Abbott added.
Siemens contract manager Nigel Broughton said that the company is ‘pleased to be working with Nomad on this exciting and high profile project’.
"We hope Eurostar passengers will enjoy the fast and reliable Wi-Fi solution that will be available on board," Broughton added.
According to Nomad Digital, the company was selected by Siemens for its ability to provide a high-speed on-board internet connection, while providing a easy switchover at international borders to deliver a reliable high-quality Wi-Fi service.
