Australia-based rail technology company OEM Technology Solutions has launched new PC3 programmable controllers for the rail industry.
The company’s R&D department has designed and created the PC1 and PC3 programmable heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) controllers for the global rail industry.
An Intel Dual Core PC3 computer system with integrated cellular and 802.11 wi-fi communications has been developed by OEM in association with its partners for train-borne telemetry systems.
According to OEM, the PC3 system can be configured with the PM3002 processor module to offer a 10/100 mbps wired ethernet interface through an M12 connector.
Using a secure 802.11 b/g private network, the PC3 wi-fi interface enables a master PC3 controller to communicate with about sixteen slave PC3 controllers.
Train subsystem status can be monitored and controlled with the help of 802.11 private network installed on suitably configured tablet PCs or smartphones.
The PM3002 processor module can also be connected to an on-train wi-fi access point with suitable security permissions to offer secure data to a remote shore-based server.
The incorporation of PC3 controller with wi-fi connectivity and the existing PC3 suite of EN50155 compliant I/O and communications modules will offer a railway automation solution for subsystem control and monitoring, remote and condition monitoring, and train refurbishment programmes.
Timetable information, video images, alarms, train performance metrics, events and train location between train and check points can all be shared with the new PC3 system.
