Network Rail has awarded a nationwide telecom framework renewal contract to UK-based telent, to provide equipment and services for the renewal of railway communication networks and systems across all of its regions.
The contract is for three years, with an option to extend for a further two years.
Telent’s managing director of rail business, Steve Pears, said that the new framework contract builds on the service the company has provided to Network Rail over the last seven years.
"As well as allowing us to continue to provide ongoing support to one of the largest organisations in the UK rail sector, we hope the new contract will provide us with the opportunity to continue to grow telent’s reputation within the rail sector," Pears said.
In 2005, the company won a five-year framework contract for the South East region and signed an 18-month framework contract in 2010 to extend telent’s coverage to include both the South East and Western regions.
Under these contracts, telent has installed, commissioned and tested a range of telecommunication equipment, from networks supporting signalling, to customer information systems.
