Siemens will unveil its new locomotive at the International Trade Fair for Transport Technology 2010 trade show in Berlin, Germany.
The locomotive will named Werner von Siemens on 22 September.
It can operate at speeds of either 16km/h or 200km/h and can be used for national and cross-border passenger and freight traffic.
The locomotive can also be configured to individual requirements due to various performance classes and voltage systems.
The unit’s front end is designed as an internal deformation zone, which can be disconnected from the rest of body, ensuring easy replacement in the event of an accident.
Siemens said the locomotive’s body has a maximum static tensile force of 1,500kN and a maximum static compressive force of 2,000kN.
The locomotive is preconfigured for operation in almost all European countries.
