Upgrades to 59 high-risk rail crossings in Australia under the A$150m ($131m) rail crossings programme will be completed in July this year.
The project also involve safety works at three priority level crossings in Victoria and the installation of active warning lights on six crossings in Tasmania.
It also includes completing the fitting of lights and bells at a level crossing at Latrobe and improving safety at 34 crossings in South Australia.
The latest upgrade is also expected to involve advanced warning signs at a crossing on the Barrier Highway in New South Wales.
The move intends to improve safety and prevent accidents at level crossings, according to fullyloaded.com.au.
