Alstom, Transmashholding and Kazakh Railways (KTZ) have signed an agreement to create a joint company to manufacture electric locomotives in Kazakhstan.
The locomotives produced by the joint venture are expected to incorporate technologies developed by Alstom and Transmashholding and will use components produced by the French-Russian consortium and from Alstom’s Belfort factory in France.
The agreement will benefit from French Government financial support, according to Alstom.
The locomotives manufactured are expected to satisfy the requirements of Kazakh Railways, and will also be exported to other countries.
