Switzerland-based ABB has won a $115m contract in India to supply power solutions for the Bangalore mass rapid transport system.
The contract awarded by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation, the state-owned company overseeing the project, is for the 42km, 41-station first phase of the metro system.
ABB will design, supply, install and commission four substations, each rated at 66/33kV, and auxiliary and traction substations, as well as transformers, capacitors, relays and associated cables and switchgear.
In addition, the company will provide an integrated network management, or supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), system to monitor and control the installations.
