Europorte in France has signed a contract with Belgian company Railnova to fit GPS beacons in all its locomotives, starting from next month, in order to improve traffic efficiency, enhance safety and optimise resource management.

Railnova will fit the locomotives with a rail movement monitoring system that will provide information on the current position of the locomotives in real time, and automatic data on the condition of locomotives, including temperatures, average speeds and distances.

The electronic interface of the system will reduce the cost of manual reporting and the need for emergency maintenance interventions.

This navigation tracking system is self-contained and sends a signal once movement is detected.
