Crossrail, in association with development partner Great Portland Estates, has secured approval for the first over-site development above a Crossrail station in London, UK.

The master plan for the over-site development calls for creation of 27,900m² of retail, commercial and residential space surrounding Bond Street Station’s eastern exit on Hanover Square.

Preparatory work for the new ticket hall is currently underway while main construction is slated to begin in 2012.

The wider master plan has been designed by architects Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands.

The western exit of the station on Davies Street has also been designed to allow the construction of an over-site development.

Grosvenor and Crossrail are expected to submit a planning application for the western exit master plan in late 2011.
