Unitsky String Technologies Inc. Breaks New Grounds in Cargo Transportation

The string rail overpass is durable. It has a service life of 100 years and there is no need for routine maintenance.

Cargo transportation is one of the areas where the transport and infrastructure solutions of Unitsky String Technologies Inc. (UST Inc.) can be incorporated. Self-driving, steel-wheeled electric cars (uPods) travel on a string rail overpass at speeds of up to 150 km/h. They are capable of efficiently transporting cargo, even in the regions with hostile terrain and harsh climates.

String rail overpass: reliable and efficient

The uST track structure is designed with an overpass. Bypassing water barriers and other obstacles, it is laid along the shortest trajectory, which grants better accessibility and speed of cargo delivery, thanks to intermediate supports that can be installed in clearances of up to 3 km.

The string rail overpass is durable. It has a service life of 100 years and there is no need for routine maintenance. The safety of cargo is ensured by the anti-derailment system and the vehicles travel above the ground, which eliminates accidents and collisions with foreign objects.

In some cases, the construction of the uST Cargo Transport and Infrastructure Complexes is much more affordable than the construction of railroads or highways. Moreover, high energy efficiency and lower expenses for maintenance personnel reduce the operating costs.

The track structure’s resistance to harsh weather, and automated control system, guarantee the safe transportation of cargo in fog and heavy rain, snowstorms, thunderstorms, and even floods.

The string rail track can extend for more than 500 km. The uST Transport and Infrastructure Complexes can serve as a link between logistic nodes in remote and hard-to-reach locations, as well as in mining operations. They require minimal allotment of land and much less materials for construction, compared to conventional overpasses.

The cargo complexes can be incorporated to transport various cargoes such as:

  • bulk- ore, coal, crushed stone, gravel, sand
  • liquid bulk- oil and derivatives thereof, chemical products, liquefied gas, drinking water
  • breakbulk- wood and timbers, rolled steel, containers
  • special- household and industrial waste

Smart and eco-friendly transport

Like the entire transport and infrastructure complex, uPods create practically zero environmental impact. This advantage is achieved thanks to the use of electricity, the elevated manner of transportation, and its high energy efficiency.

The cargo transport is controlled by the automated system that eliminates human error and provides a high reliability of transportation thanks to full control over speed and route, continuous day-and-night service, and the elimination of accidents.

Rolling stock

Unitsky String Technologies Inc. has developed a range of cargo models, each designed for different applications. They can be used at industrial facilities, seaports, and mining sites.

The uTruck is designed to transport bulk cargo at a speed of up to 150 km/h, with automatic loading and unloading. The uCont is used to transport sea containers of 20 and 40 feet in length, with a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The third model is called the uTrans. It is a conveyor-type vehicle which allows for the fast and inexpensive transportation of bulk cargoes. The uTrans has no limitations in terms of route length, and provides greater safety of transported cargo. The uTrans can be combined with the uTruck line, which expands its range of applications. The maximum speed is 36 km/h.

The cargo transport by UST Inc. is capable of transporting up to 100 million tons of cargo per year. The use of these models has the potential to become popular in the cargo transportation industry due to high efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

Unitsky String Technologies Inc. is an international engineering company that provides design, construction, and maintenance of innovative elevated transportation systems.
