Transdev has secured the contract to operate and maintain Luas, the light-rail network in Dublin, Ireland.

The operation and maintenance (O&M) contract was awarded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the National Transport Authority following an international tender process.

Under the terms of the contract, Transdev will operate and maintain the Dublin light-rail network for six years, with the option of five additional years starting 1 December 2019.

Transdev, through Transdev Dublin Light Rail, has been operating Luas since it commenced services in 2004. However, the maintenance of network infrastructure and the operating fleet was with Alstom.

Transdev Group Northern and Central Europe CEO Christian Schreyer said: “We are particularly proud of the renewed confidence demonstrated by the Irish transport authorities in entrusting Transdev with the expanded contract to both operate and maintain the Luas light-rail network.

“As the incumbent operator since the commencement, we will continue to deliver on the highest standards serving the millions of customers travelling with Luas every year.”
