Otis France is to offer 171 of its 520 NPE escalators and moving walkways for new and existing projects of SNCF French Rail.

The deal includes a 15-year maintenance and ‘mid-life’ renovations contract. It will see the installation of 75 Otis escalators on the upcoming Project Eole (East-West Express) stations, including Porte Maillot, CNIT-La Défense and Nanterre La Folie.

The deployment of the escalators is scheduled to be completed over a period of seven years.

Upon completion, the Eole Project will extend the future E line of the RER commuter network to the west, which is expected to be operational in 2024.

“This contract with SNCF is a strategic one for Otis, enabling us to reaffirm the spirit of innovation that is an essential part of who we are.”

The E line will also help improve France’s mobility between sites during the 2024 Olympic Games.

Under the contract, Otis France will provide and install 94 escalators and two moving walkways for the renewal of equipment and maintenance in the existing Magenta and Haussmann Saint-Lazare stations. The equipment is expected to be installed within ten years.

Otis Europe, Middle East and Africa president Patrick Blethon said: “This contract with SNCF is a strategic one for Otis, enabling us to reaffirm the spirit of innovation that is an essential part of who we are.”

The company expects to deliver the first four escalators to SNCF French Rail by September this year. The machines will be installed on the Haussmann Saint-Lazare station.

Otis further plans to commission 24 escalators next year and 120 escalators by 2020.
