India-based engineering company Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has secured an Rs7.98bn ($120m) contract from Bangalore Metro Rail to construct an elevated corridor and five stations, in collaboration with its joint venture (JV) partner URC Construction.

HCC’s possesses a 51% share in the JV, representing a sum of about Rs4.06bn ($61m).

The contract will see the JV build a 6.3km-long elevated corridor and five elevated stations, which will be located between HSR Layout station and RV Road station.

The five stations are Central Silk Board, BTM Layout, Jayadeva Hospital, Ragigudda and RV Road.

Works outlined in the agreement also include the construction of road and rail flyover, road widening, and various other associated developments. The project is expected to be completed in 36 months.

The project forms a part of the fully elevated 18.82km R V Road to Bommasandra section, which is included in Phase II of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project.

Phase II of the Bangalore Metro Rail Project is roughly 72.095km-long, consisting of six sections and 61 stations.

Approximately 13.79km of the second phase is located underground, including 12 stations.

HCC was also associated with construction of metro projects in other Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
