JSM Construction Group has secured a $34m contract from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the completion of civil works at Hume station on the Downtown Line.

The station is situated along Upper Bukit Timah Road between Hillview and Beauty World stations.

Keeping the basic structural provisions in mind, a station box was previously constructed for the station.

Under the new contract, JSM Construction will undertake projects related to the station’s entrance, ventilation shaft and fitting-out works for the new station.

Scheduled to open in 2025, the new station will serve prevailing residential developments along Hume Avenue.

It will also offer convenient access to the Rail Corridor Central and Former Ford Factory for the residents.

The contractor will also be responsible for executing extensive installation works to meet architectural, plumbing and sanitary requirements.

A majority of these works will take place after train services have stopped or when the operator is not carrying out maintenance works.

Rail systems, along with the electrical and mechanical (E&M) services, will also be tested and installed at the station.

While the rail systems will be obtained from the binding contractors who had earlier delivered them for the Downtown Line, contracts for the E&M services will be granted later this quarter.

Before opening the station to passengers, testing will also be performed after the completion of the installation works.

JSM Construction is currently carrying out addition and alteration works at Pasir Ris station along the East-West Line.

The company was previously working on constructing additional platforms at Choa Chu Kang MRT/LRT station.
