The US National Railroad Passenger Corporation and public transport company SEPTA have completed the Paoli Station Accessibility Improvements project.
The project was a $48m initiative to enhance accessibility, safety and offer operational flexibility at the Paoli Train station, a passenger rail station situated in the western suburbs of Philadelphia at 13 Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, Pennsylvania.

The project involved a series of upgrades intended at making the station fully accessible for all customers.
Improvements include a new platform, elevators, stairs and ramps, a pedestrian overpass, parking lot improvements, ADA enhancements to the existing station building and upgrades in rail infrastructure to support other project components.
Works also included vehicular circulation enhancement in the south, north-east and north-west car parks. Directional arrows have been painted on the ground to streamline traffic flow.
The outbound wooden canopy, which was part of the late 19th-century station, has been restored and renovated as a cover for new bike parking facilities.

By GlobalDataAmtrak said the project will encourage potential further construction of the planned Paoli intermodal transportation centre, which aims to serve the increasing requirements of the traveling public and support the Paoli business district and future expansion of the area.
Amtrak assistant vice-president for infrastructure access and investment Tom Moritz said: “After two years of construction activities, Amtrak and SEPTA have opened the new centre platform at the Paoli Train Station, a major milestone in making the station fully accessible to all users.”
Approximately 646,446 SEPTA customers and 233,816 Amtrak customers passed via the station in the fiscal year 2018.
Pennsylvania Railroad constructed the original station facilities in 1953. SEPTA and Amtrak partnered in 2016 to undertake modifications to the station and infrastructure in order to bring the facility into compliance with the US Department of Transportation accessibility standards.
