Indian Railways provides a special status to heritage preservation and Railway Board is committed to the same. It is part of the nation’s natural and cultural heritage and may be of a tangible or intangible character.
Such properties provide the primary evidence in a number of subject disciplines such as locomotives, coaches, heritage buildings and the communication devices that have been instrumental in the building of this national asset, and therefore represents an important contribution to knowledge and national pride.
