At CeBIT, KEYMILE will showcase its compact XMP1-LCC (Large Cross-Connect), a new member of the recently acquired XMP1 product range. The XMP1-LCC combines extensive cross-connect capacities from SDH to down to 64kbps level, STM-1/4/16 and excellent availability with flexible upgrade possibilities. The system is ideal for usage as a major network node in private corporate networks.

KEYMILE, one of the leading manufacturers of next-generation data transmission systems, presents the multiplexer XMP1-LCC for the first time at CeBIT in hall 12, stand 66. The compact (3HE) PDH/SDH multiplexer with large cross-connect and interface capacity is an addition to the successful XMP1 product range.

Up to 8064 x 8064 64kbps channels can be switched non-blocking. Independently of the 64kbps cross-connect, STM-1/4/16 can be switched non-blocking at VC-4/3/12 level. The system is the ideal network node solution for a large number of incoming E1 connections, which is the case for example in corporate networks belonging to utility and transport companies. As regards mobile telephony network access, the XMP1-LCC is ideal for grooming and consolidation of 2mbps connections.

Particularly in corporate networks, one of the ways the XMP1-LCC ensures the high level of 99.999% reliability required is by providing a possible redundant design of the central unit. Manual switching between active and redundant central unit is carried out free of bit errors at switching times of under 50ms.

In terms of function, further reasons for the high level of availability are line-redundancy at SDH (MSP, SNCP) and E1 level and the 64kbps channel redundancy. Other con-tributory factors include decentralised power supply, power supply with redundant current feed, as well as full integration into the network management environment of ServiceOn XMP1 (SOX). Inte-gration enables simple setting up and monitoring of end-to-end connections.

The XMP1-LCC can be gradually adapted to growing demand. The future upgrade possibility of layer-2 switching makes the system future proof. Furthermore, integration of further service inter-faces is in the pipeline. There are ten slots available to make the system flexible. Two slots are available for the central units and eight for interface units.

The modular design of the XMP1-LCC and the flexible licensing model allow customised con-figuration – which keeps the initial outlay low. If the demand for interfaces and cross-connect capacities increases in the future, the XMP1-LCC can be upgraded gradually.

These features make the XMP1-LCC an excellent choice for usage in telecommunications net-works belonging to transportation companies (e.g. railways, waterways or motorway), utility suppli-ers or pipeline operators, as well as public network and mobile telephony operator transmission networks.
