New Pendolino high-speed trains ordered by Karelian Trains will be equipped with the latest generation train data recorders supplied by EKE-Electronics. EKE-Electronics’ scope of supply includes event recorder racks, PCP contol panels and speedometers. The trains will be manufactured by Alstom Transportation. The equipment deliveries from EKE to Alstom manufacturing facility have started.
The EKE-Trainnet® event recorder is the smallest data recorder in the world complying with all major rolling stock event recorder standards (EEIG 97E461, IEEE 1482, GM/RT2472) with regards to resistance against shock, crush, fire, penetration and hydrostatic pressure. The memory stores 2GB train data.
Mr Pekka Kuusela, chief executive officer of EKE-Electronics comments about the contract; “We are happy to supply our event recorder equipment for this breakthrough project between Russia and Finland. Karelian Trains are going to change travel between St. Petersburg and Helsinki, and we are committed to make our part of the project a success.”
Karelian Trains is the company that will acquire high-speed trains and maintenance services for services between Helsinki and St. Petersburg. VR and OAO RZD each own 50% of the company. Karelian Trains was established in 2006.
