ABSOPULSE Electronics’ BAR 65R-D3 series of RIA12 DC-DC converters, with IP66-rated protection, deliver up to 300W output power in railway rolling stock applications.
The converters offer input voltage surge-withstand capacity that is 3.5 times the nominal input voltage for 20 milliseconds, and meets the requirements of RIA12, with wide margins. RIA12 is the general specification for the protection of traction and rolling stock equipment from transients and surges in DC control systems.
The units operate from 24Vdc, 36Vdc, 48Vdc, 72Vdc, 96VDC, or 110Vdc, with wide EN50155 input ranges. They deliver 12Vdc, 24Vdc, 48Vdc, or 110Vdc output voltage. Custom input and output voltages are available on request.
Designed to meet the requirements of EN50155, the units also comply with EN50121-3-2, EN61000-4-2, EN61000-4-3, EN61000-4-4, and EN61000-4-6, and other railway related standards. Other protection features include 3000Vdc input-output isolation, reverse polarity protection, overload and overvoltage protection, thermal protection, and current limiting.
The BAR 65R-D3 converters are enclosed in robust die cast aluminium IP66-rated packages that ensure immunity to the ingress of water from powerful jets, fog, sand, metal dust, dust, oil, insects, and other contaminants. The input and output are connected via sealed cable glands, circular connectors, or custom connections.
Cooling is by internal conduction to the walls of the IP66-rated enclosure, and by baseplate, to an external chassis or cabinet wall, with additional convection via the outside surface. The units operate within a -25°C to +55°C cold plate temperature range, for full specification. Extended temperature ranges are available on request.
