750Vdc Input, 500W DC-DC Converters for Mass Transit and Mining Vehicles

ABSOPULSE Electronics HVI 500R-FX Series high input voltage DC-DC converters deliver up to 500W.

The units accept 750Vdc input voltage (525V – 975Vdc range), the traction voltage typically required for mass transit vehicles such as trams, metros and light rail, and for mining locomotives.

The standard series delivers 24V, 36V, 48V or 110Vdc. Other output voltages are available on request. An optional built-in redundancy diode allows for a number of units to be connected in parallel to achieve higher output power or N+1 redundancy.

The HVI 500R-FX meets the requirements of EN 50155 for electronic equipment used on rolling stock and is filtered to meet EN 50121-3-2 EMI/EMC.

Heavy ruggedising and conformal coating provide immunity to shock, vibration, humidity and moisture. The HVI 500R-FX is designed to meet IEC 61373 Categories 1 A & B shock and vibration standards. Cooled by conduction and natural air convection, the unit is rated for -25°C to 55°C for full specification, with wider temperature ranges available on request.

The unit features high efficiency, low output noise and full electronic protection on the input and output. To ensure high reliability and long operating life, all critical components on the primary side are designed and tested for corona inception levels significantly higher than the operating voltages.

ABSOPULSE Electronics designs and manufactures a wide range of rugged, heavy-duty power supplies with high input voltage for railway and industrial applications.
