A broad product portfolio that leaves nothing to be desired: At TRAKO, visitors can see for themselves the great diversity in suspension products offered by ContiTech Railway Engineering.

"In our capacity as a full-range supplier, we team up with our Polish sales partner, TransComfort, to cover the entire gamut of primary and secondary suspension systems as well as rubber-to-metal-bonded components," reports Friedrich Hoppmann, head of the Railway Engineering segment at ContiTech.

The two partners are showing off their product solutions at TRAKO with a joint booth (58) in hall C. The trade show is on in Gdansk from 24 to 27 September 2013.

Alongside a wide range of suspension products from the bogie area, ContiTech Railway Engineering will likewise be presenting its range of services. The company is, for example, the sole supplier offering rail vehicle manufacturers air spring kits.

"A package contains a complete set of suspension components for a bogie," says Andreas Hass, head of sales at ContiTech Railway Engineering. "This makes the installation process easier for manufacturers and ensures smooth processes."

At TRAKO, the company will be presenting not only air springs but also versions of hydro springs, layer and conical springs, sockets and MEGI®-brand buffers.

ContiTech Railway Engineering’s strong position on the Polish market is evident in the many projects the company is backing with its suspension products. The suspension solutions are at work in the SWING, JAZZ, and TWIST trams in the Polish cities of Warsaw, Gdansk, and Stettin. The newly developed LINK regional multiple unit train is fully equipped with ContiTech springs. The Deutsche Bahn has ordered up to 470 one-to three-part sets from PESA, the Polish company manufacturing them.

Air actuators in pantographs – uniform contact pressure
At TRAKO, ContiTech Air Spring Systems will also be demonstrating the application of air actuators in pantographs. These are used to transfer current from a permanently installed overhead line to railway vehicles. They ensure uniform contact pressure in variable weather conditions and at high speeds. The air actuators provide reliable, frictionless service for years on end.

High-performance hoses for safe rail operation
ContiTech Fluid Technology is helping to make rail transportation of people and goods both safe and comfortable. It offers an extensive range of high-quality rail hoses specifically adapted to railway industry applications. These include railway brake hoses, flexible and robust compressed air hoses for installation in railcars, cooling water hoses for use in air conditioners and heating systems, and flexible cable protection hoses for railcars and locomotives.

It also carries 1TE / 2TE / 3TE hydraulic hoses for the safe transport of hydraulic oil. The rail hoses are made from high-quality rubber compounds using state-of-the-art technology in accordance with the standards in force in the country in question. They also meet the flammability and smoke gas toxicity testing requirements laid down in DIN 5510-2.

"In our capacity as development partner for our customers, we create and implement tailored product solutions," emphasizes Hubert Butterwegge, head of sales in the Industrial Hoses product segment. The AquapaL® DB, for instance, has been tailored precisely to the needs of the rail industry.

This means that the robust and flexible hose not only complies with the regulations laid down for the transport of drinking water via pipes and hoses as contained in the Water, Drinking Water, and Water Protection Testing Guideline for Organic Materials (KTW) and in DVGW-W270 and DVGW-VP 549 of the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW). Deutsche Bahn AG has also approved it as a drinking water hose.
