Neumarkt, Germany – As part of a contract from the Spanish railway authority ADIF, RAIL.ONE Group will deliver approximately 120,000 concrete sleepers for construction of the high-speed line between Madrid and Valencia. Along the total line length of around 430km, RAIL.ONE will equip 14 tunnels with the RHEDA 2000® ballastless track system. The company will additionally deliver special concrete sleepers required for the transition zones between ballasted and ballastless track sections.

RAIL.ONE will deliver the first concrete sleepers to the construction site already in October of this year. The Madrid-Valencia line, scheduled for completion in late 2010, will reduce the travel time between the two cities from 3.5 to 2 hours.

Production of the bi-block sleepers for the RHEDA 2000 system will take place in the Spanish plant in Toro, around 200km north of Madrid. In addition, a large share of the mono-block sleepers for the transition zones will come from the plant in Constantí. Since 1994, this plant has been operated together with the Spanish construction company COMSA.

With yet another contract for delivery of the track system for the Madrid-Valencia line, RAIL.ONE can further expand its market position. Over 100,000 RHEDA 2000 sleepers have already been delivered for new construction of the Guadarrama Tunnel on the mainline between Madrid and Valladolid. In addition, the company has likewise equipped more than 15km of line with its patented track system, as part of the Eje Atlantico projects.
