EKE-Electronics, a leading train control and management system (TCMS) solution provider, will supply its Trainnet® system for the high-profile Haramain project. Powernet Oy will supply the power supply units used in this project.

EKE was selected by Patentes Talgo to provide a complete TCMS solution to the Haramain high-speed train in Saudi Arabia. The EKE Trainnet® solution includes a hybrid train communication network, including WTB, MVB, Ethernet and CAN buses. Trainnet® monitors the train behaviour (for example, safety critical information such as wheel temperature and wheel instability) and collects diagnostic data from the entire train.

EKE has been working closely with Patentes Talgo for several years in other demanding projects and is proud to cooperate again on what will be the most modern high-speed line in the world. From late 2014, the Haramain high-speed trains, 35 for passengers and one for the Royal Saudi Family, will be delivered by Patentes Talgo to Saudi Arabia where they will connect Mecca and Medina via Jeddah.

Harry Lilja, vice -president of sales and marketing at Powernet Oy comments: "We are proud to be selected by EKE for the Haramain High-Speed Train project as a supplier for a key component in EKE’s Trainnet® system."

Powernet has developed rail approved power supplies, battery chargers and converters since the early 1990s. The Trainnet® system uses a rugged VME-series DC / DC converter, which is approved according to relevant rail standards. Operating temperature ranges from -40ºC to 75ºC.

"Powernet’s power supplies has proven to be highly reliable over the years, we look forward to a successful co-operation with Powernet also in this remarkable project," says Mika Lindén, sales director at EKE-Electronics.
