Stadler Rail and Powernet have signed a contract for the delivery and services of a 3kW high-power DC/DC converter. The converter will be installed in Stadler’s railway vehicles in the Stadler Switzerland plant.
Stadler chose Powernet, in part, because of its lightweight 3kW DC/DC converter and its robust power supply unit, which is designed to power electronics and batteries. The mechanical construction also allows easy installation and the robust electrical design is a perfect match for demanding railway applications. As a whole, the form fits into its function and the design is moderately priced. The Powernet solution is scheduled for start-up from mid-2010 and will last until the end of 2011.
Powernet will build the complete solution for the 32 FLIRT trains and 10 Belarus trains – all designed according to Powernet Custom Design solution.
“We are experienced in developing custom-designed power supplies for transportation industry applications like railways, city trams and marine applications. Our experts are accustomed to working with strict design requirements and specific design standards required by traction industry. One of Powernet’s core competences is in designing power supplies for secured and reliable operation over the long lifetime,” says Peter Leitman, sales manager of Powernet Deutschland.
