As of 1 January 2011, Norbert Klapper (47) has assumed the management of the Voith Turbo market division rail. Over the last few months, the market division had been temporarily headed by the chairman of the management board of Voith Turbo, Peter Edelmann. Klapper has been working for Voith since 2005. Prior to his new appointment, he held the position of executive vice president of Voith Industrial Services Holding in Stuttgart.

Born in Waldsassen, Upper Palatinate, in 1963, Klapper studied at Darmstadt Technical University after finishing high school in Germany. Following his graduation, he worked as scientific researcher under Horst Wildemann at Passau University and Munich Technical University, where he obtained a PhD in 1993.

His first step on the career ladder was a post at the management consultancy Arthur D. Little International. Working as a senior partner, his consultancy activities focused on production and logistics. Moving on, Klapper joined the management board of Dürr in Stuttgart in 2000, assuming responsibility for the divisions services and final assembly systems.

In 2005, Klapper changed to Voith to work for the group division Voith Industrial Services, where he was put in charge of the division facility services europe as executive vice president. This position was followed by an appointment as executive vice president of the division automotive at Voith Industrial Services in October 2010.
