Voith has entered into a new cooperation regarding the service and maintenance of its first in-house-built locomotive. With Häöfen und Güterverkehr Köln AG (HGK), an experienced partner with direct works sidings will in future carry out all service and maintenance work on Voith’s own range of diesel-hydraulic shunting and mainline locomotives.

In the new, centrally located HGK workshop in Cologne with easy access to all railway networks, Voith locomotives from Germany, France and Benelux will be serviced and repaired.

From the end of 2008, Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik in Cologne will provide two work sidings with six service spaces for Voith Gravita shunting locomotives, and another four spaces for the Voith Maxima mainline locomotives.

In the new works halls, HGK will carry out heavy maintenance and repair duties under instruction from Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik employees. Additionally, a network of fitters and service stations coordinated from Cologne will offer 24-hour workshop and mobile services.

Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln AG employs approximately 600 people and is among Germany’s leading private railway operators. The company has a fleet of 38 diesel and 17 electric locomotives. In 536 carriages, HGK transports some 13 million tons of goods every year. In the near future, it will also use Voith Maxima locomotives.
