Stuttgart, Pforzheim and Lake Constance Area Join Nationwide Mobile Ticketing Project in Germany

Mobile Ticketing

The Transit and Tariff Association of Stuttgart, Pforzheim and Constance have been participating in the German mobile ticket project, HandyTicket Deutschland, and are offering customers the opportunity to purchase tickets via their mobile phones.

As a result of joining the first interoperable ticket system throughout Germany, customers in the new regions receive automatic access to tickets for a further 15 public transport areas. The principle is simple: register once, ride everywhere. As the responsible IT partner, the Hamburg IT service provider HanseCom GmbH is supporting the project by providing, developing and centrally operating the mobile ticket system.

Suitability for large-scale use, not just smartphones

The mobile ticketing system offers a wide variety of technologies for ticket purchasing, which take into account the technological prerequisites of the various mobile phone models or customer’s personal preference.

In addition to a Java client, apps are provided for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry smartphones. Access via the mobile website is possible regardless of the type of device used. In order to actually facilitate access for all customers, tickets can also be purchased via a toll-free number or via text message.

Standardised look and feel

By means of the interoperable approach and the centralised system, all functions are available with the same scope and in the same way on the structured portals. Users benefit from standardised menu guidance, regardless of what region they are in.

HandyTicket Deutschland is currently available in Aachen, Augsburg, Bielefeld, Chemnitz, Constance, Dresden, Erfurt, Freiburg, Hamburg, Colonge, Münster, Nuremberg, Oberlausitz-Lower Silesia, Pforzheim, Rhine-Ruhr, Stuttgart, Ulm and Vogtland.
