Axiomtek Releasing Hardened rBOX103 DIN-rail Fanless Embedded System with 2-port Isolated CAN Bus

The rBOX103 features an IP30 protected housing with slim form factor, wide temperature operation, DIN-rail mount, and 2 power paths input for industrial automation applications.

Axiomtek will be releasing a brand new rBOX103 DIN-rail fanless embedded system with CAN Bus connections utilising the low-power Intel Atom processors Z510PT (1.1 GHz) and Z520PT (1.33 GHz) with 2 GB DDR2 system memory. Designed with two CAN 2.0 A/B interfaces, the rBOX103 is ideal for CAN-based applications that need high-speed transmission and efficient error detection mechanisms.

Multiple built-in serial ports, LANs, and USB 2.0 ports enable fast and efficient data computation, communication and acquisition. The rugged rBOX103 comes packaged in a robust IP30 housing and is designed to withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C for use in extremely cold or hot environments.

To streamline implementation of management applications, Axiomtek has launched the AXView monitoring software package for customers to build their own management systems easily and quickly.

"Axiomtek’s new wide-temperature rBOX103 DIN-rail fanless embedded system provides two isolated CAN bus interfaces that are used in a wide range of embedded and automation control systems. This rugged unit meets Safety Agency requirements and has passed heavy industrial EMI/EMS testing," said Eric Chiang, product manager of the Product and Marketing Division at Axiomtek.

"Front accessible I/O cabling is convenient for wiring and maintenance. Additionally, the rBOX103 features SNMP V1/V2c support for secured network management, and has two Watchdog Timers for twice the security," said Eric Chiang, product manager of the Product and Marketing Division at Axiomtek. For quick and easy startup, the DIN-rail embedded box computer comes with AXView software package."

For ease of maintenance, the rBOX103 features front-facing LED indicators that provide link activity and transmission speed. To fulfill different application needs, the extreme compact DIN-rail embedded system comes with two COM ports (or two optional isolated COM ports), two isolated Ethernet (one 10/100/1000Mbps and one 10/100Mbps), two USB 2.0 ports, two isolated CAN ports, one VGA output, and one CompactFlash socket.

One PCI Express Mini card (USB-type) and a SIM socket are available for WiFi/3G wireless card installation. 12-48VDC input with a terminal block is also included and there are two power paths to minimize the risk of data loss in the event of a single power failure.

Pre-installed with Linux, Windows 7, Windows CE 6.0, or Windows XP Embedded, the rBOX103 provides programmers with a friendly environment for developing application software at a lower cost. Based on SNMP protocols, Axiomtek AXView makes it easy for system administrators to manage and monitor remote computers. Intelligent AXView also contains a variety of easy-to-use management utilities, agent services and libraries.

The robust rBOX103 with intelligent AXView package will be available around the end of January 2012.
