Grindrod Locomotives called on us for the delivery of a simulator copying one of its freight trains.

Usually, train manufacturers order simulators for their customers. Grindrod Locomotives broke with tradition and ordered a simulation solution for its own needs.

Convinced of the added value offered by simulators, the South African decided to include them as an option in its future sales.

Since owning a simulator became essential, the manufacturer ordered a Compact Simulator of its RL22SCN locomotive.

The Compact, delivered in Pretoria in 2015, includes 100km of tracks and a set of exercises.

It enables Grindrod to highlight the benefits of a simulator for freight train operators such as optimising fuel consumption, teaching coupling procedures, familiarising drivers with traction and breaking depending on the length and weight of the vehicle, etc.
