Dr D Wehrhahn Provides Contactless Height Limit Control for Road-Rail Excavators

To prevent damage on the catenary system (15kV) on construction work through construction machinery it is necessary to observe the pre-described safety distances.

Without exact details of the contact wire height the driver maybe has different values with regard to the setting of the height of the stroke limit rail-road excavator. It can come to non-compliance of the safety distance and cause damage to the catenary system.

Dr. D. Wehrhahn Meßsysteme has developed the contactless height limit control OVH-WireSafety in cooperation with Leonhard Weiss GmbH & Co. KG, which determines the current contact wire height and the maximum lifting height under the catenary determined depending on the attached working tool, and passes these to the control of the lifting arm. The control system can adjust the stroke limit continuously to ensure a permanent required safety distance.
