Finnish power electronics supplier, Powernet, has appointed MScTech Harry Lilja as vice president, marketing and sales, effective from 13 September 2010. The former general manager of the European sales division at VTI Technologies has accrued more than ten years of international sales experience with several technology companies. He will be responsible for Powernet’s entire sales and marketing activities.

“I am very excited about my new tasks and the chance to apply my sales experience in a new industry,” Lilja comments. “Thanks to an innovative approach and efficient industry processes, Powernet is now in an excellent position to increase its share of the European market.”

Focus on Germany

Lilja takes over marketing and sales responsibilities from Timo Muurinen, who in turn has been appointed VP, business development. Muurinen, who holds a degree in engineering, will oversee the exploration of new markets for Powernet in central Europe, particularly in Germany.

After more than a decade in the power supply business, Muurinen knows its characteristics and players well: “The power supply market is huge, but very fragmented and mainly in the hands of local companies. In order to increase visibility and market share, Powernet is committed to providing the most efficient custom design solutions in the field, tailored to each customer’s individual requirements.”

In June, Powernet established a permanent office in Germany, to support its envisioned growth. The company’s goal is to become Europe’s best manufacturer of customer-specific, high-end power supplies in its class.
