HEIDENHEIM – Rotem, Korea has received an order from Syrian State Railways (CFS), for ten five-car vehicles. The railcars, capable of maximum speeds of 160 km/h, will be used in long-distance service between Damascus and Aleppo. Voith Turbo will equip these vehicles with proven Voith components. This is the third order for Voith Turbo from the korean vehicle manufacturer Rotem.

Each of the railcars has three drive units. The following Voith components will be installed:

  • T 312 bre turbo transmission
  • SK/KE-485 final drives
  • A hydrostatic under-floor cooling system
  • Highly flexible couplings and cardan shafts

The Cummins QSK 19 engine has an output of 560 kW. All of the vehicles will be assembled in Korea. The first vehicle was already delivered to Syria, followed by further test drives. Handover to CFS is scheduled to take place this autumn.
