Supporting the UK’s initiative to engage children with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects, Chela is sponsoring a competition for a model rocket car at Dame Alice Owen’s School.

Organised by The Learning Partnership (TLP), the event will engage the pupils in elements of science (motion / force / friction), computer science (measurement of time / speed), as well as design and technology. In addition to being of great educational benefit, the event promises to be a lot of fun.

Our donation will be made direct to the school and will cover the cost of training two teachers to safely manage the race days and for the equipment required to enter the competition.

Chela MD Iwan Fisher says he really liked the idea behind the event, continuing: “The art to successful education is making it fun and kids love a competition, so this seemed like a great event to support.

“Personally, I’d love to think an event like this was a catalyst in getting some children interested in problem solving and may be even to pursue a future career in the sciences.”
