BWCS has announced that next year’s Wi-Fi on Trains Conference, TrainComms2020, will take place on 10-11 June.
Already, the consultancy has signed up train operators from around the world to give their first-hand accounts of adding and upgrading Wi-Fi services on their trains. There are more details on the brand-new website www.Traincomms.com.
“We’ve been heavily involved in this sector during this year, in particular”, reports Ross Parsons head of Transport at BWCS, “Both in consultancy and via launching and updating the online market database www.Internet4trains.com. We’ve witnessed some really exciting new services emerge, all of these will feature heavily at next year’s Conference.”
As investment in new Wi-Fi on trains makes headlines, interest in this sector and this very niche Conference is growing. Increasingly, governments in Europe and across the globe are moving to encourage mobile network operators to offer better coverage along rail tracks and BWCS has been involved in some of these schemes. This backing, along with other trackside developments, is helping bridge the gap between passenger expectation of Wi-Fi services and the, sometimes, harsh reality.
