With demand growing for advanced technology on trains, HUBER+SUHNER will be introducing its first 5G-ready antennas for railway vehicle-to-ground communications.

The antennas will be launched at the Transports Publics Expo 2018, 12-14 June in Paris.

Overcoming connectivity solutions required for vehicle-to-ground communication, the new SENCITY® Rail Multi-antenna is able to seamlessly provide an all-in-one wireless communication solution for all types of fleet to provide real-time information on board, while guaranteeing electrical protection against the impact of a contact with the overhead line.

The new antenna is designed to accommodate Multi-MIMO 4×4 ground-to-train communication and is the first antenna readily equipped for 5G on trains, with future public network superseding 4G-LTE. It also meets the special requirements of railway applications, including high current and high voltage protection.

HUBER+SUHNER France account manager railway Eric Marcilly says: “HUBER+SUHNER has the technology and knowhow to provide public transport customers with the connectivity solutions they require on their daily commute, from on-board Wi-Fi, real-time information display, high-rate CCTV video protection, and even inter-vehicle communication for customer service improvement.

“We can supply a full range of connectivity solutions, both fixed and wireless, to speed-up and simplify the installation process, guaranteeing a reliable, fast, and seamless connection for rail customers.”

Also on display at the event, will be the SENCITY® Road Antenna, used for light metro, bus, and tram services. It provides several benefits in one compact and modular housing, is EN45545 compliant, gives high voltage protection, and offers gains from 4dBi to 7dBi.

To help tackle low-loss connection speeds, HUBER+SUHNER will display its full range of SPUMA on-board RF cables, which are flexible, halogen free, and are extremely low loss.

These cables offer excellent electrical performance, are designed for applications up to 6GHz, and offer ideal opportunities in applications such as railway while remaining compliant to various standards including Euroclass CPR, EN45545, and UN ECE-R 118.01.

Marcilly added: “The full range of products we are showcasing at Transports Publics Expo are designed specifically for the Transport market, and meet the whole key requirements needed.

“The last time we attended the show it proved to be extremely constructive for our visibility and networking. We see this as a key exhibition to meet customers involved in development of French transport mobility, and we are excited to be part of this for another year.”

Other technologies at the show include the innovative solution for on-board Fiber Optic Backbone, the Databus Gigabit ethernet cables and the logistic solution for Kitting/sets.
