Railway industry demand has increased in recent years due to social awareness regarding energy saving and the environment. Furthermore, in terms of comfort and savings, many travellers are changing airports for city-centre train stations.
Specialisation of different markets has led the Danobat group to use new strategies and enter different market niches. For that reason, the Danobat group has sectorised its products, providing the customer with complete solutions as opposed to individual machines.
There is an ongoing R&D&I investment within the Danobat group and 50% of total sales come from products developed in the last three years. Another fact worth highlighting is that 70% of customers have repeat-purchased machinery or solutions, thus demonstrating the quality of the Danobat group’s performance and services.
Danobat’s rail division is involved in projects worldwide with blue-chip customers, and is currently at the assembly stage of a fully automatic flexible line for rolling stock components (axles, wheels and wheel sets).
The Danobat group will be holding an open house programme at the beginning of 2010, where a complete wheel set line will be shown. The wheel set assembly line has a production capacity of 50,000 wheel sets per year, and it is completely automatic from the insertion of the forging code of the axle on the central PC, to the bearing mounting of the wheel set.
The official opening ceremony of this line took place on 28 September 2009, and was performed by the Basque Prime Minister (Mr Lopez) the president of Mondragon (Mr Aldekoa) and the vice-president of Mondragon, acting as the president of the
Danobat group (Mr Barrenechea).
The open house program will run between 15 and 30 January 2010. On these dates, visitors will be able to see at first hand the complete machining of rolling stock components.
