Lanes Group has received a £65m contract from Transport for London (TfL) to provide facilities maintenance services for the London Underground.

The five-year contract includes an option to extend for a further three years, and represents the third maintenance contract awarded by TfL to Lanes Group in the space of four months.

The contract has been named 1 FM Bundle 3 Lot 2, and will cover all building maintenance work along underground lines, including depots, train crew accommodation, engineering works and power sites.

Lanes Group has also been re-awarded previously held contracts with additional work, which increases the assets the company is now responsible for maintaining by 40%.

Lanes Group managing director Wayne Earnshaw said: “These contract wins are just rewards for the excellent work our rail division is doing to support our London Underground customers.

“They also reflect the success of our strategy to grow the volume of business we do in the rail industry across all our operations.

“Network Rail has just re-awarded a substantial COOM multi-route drainage maintenance contract to Lanes Group company UKDN Waterflow (LG) for another 18 months.”

The annual turnover of Lanes Group’s rail division is expected to increase by 30% when combined with the other two contracts.

The Bundle 3 Lot 2 contract is scheduled to start next month.

Lanes Rail previously secured the Lot 2 drainage contract for sub-surface lines (SSL) and Bakerloo, Central and Victoria Lines, and had also been re-awarded Lot 3 contracts to maintain structure and drainage assets in Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines.
