Rail radio communication systems provider Kapsch has successfully installed GSM-R technology on two rail routes in the Czech Republic.

The two railway sections for which the European train control system is now available are between Lanžhot and Kúty, Slovakia, as well as Breclav and Hohenau, Austria.

"The trains running on the two sections in the Czech Republic will now be able to rely on a fully interoperable system."

The installation will further contribute to a standardised signalling, control and train protection system on Europe’s railway network.

As part of the project, Kapsch implemented geo-redundant GSM-R core networks and one additional base station on the two 15km railway sections. Optic cabling was used for signal transmission.

The company will also provide technical support for the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration.
