Duos Technologies Group has secured a contract via its wholly owned subsidiary Duos Technologies to develop a thermal vehicle undercarriage inspection system that can automatically detect hot spots on freight locomotives by utilising thermal imaging technology.

The system is set to be installed at the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colorado, once completed.

Duos Technologies senior vice-president Felix Krupczynski said: “We are very excited to have the opportunity to advance our intelligent automated inspection portfolio for the rail industry within a world class research and technology testing centre.”

The company has devised the proprietary system design following extensive field testing, which will use thermal imaging technology to monitoring component health.

The system is intended to facilitate the automatic monitoring of locomotive components' thermal signatures and detect any malfunction or condition that does not meet the requirements of railroad operations.

"Continuing to expand our technology portfolio and incorporating leading technologies as they come to market is consistent with our short and mid-term strategic plan."

It will identify and alert personnel when a component is found to be operating outside the expected temperature range.
