Bombardier Transportation's Chinese joint venture (JV) has won a RMB1.95bn ($284m) deal to build 144 CRH1A-A new-generation high-speed train cars for the country’s national rail operator China Railway (CRC).
The new 18 eight-car trainsets to be provided by Bombardier Sifang (Qingdao) Transportation (BST) will be deployed by Chengdu and Kunming Railway Bureau.
The tranisets will also support development of western China’s new ‘Diamond Economic Circle’, which includes the cities of Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Guiyang and Kunming.
Capable of running at speeds of 250km/h, Bombardier’s CRH1A-A trains are designed to reduce weight, track wear, and aerodynamic drag.
Featuring an aluminium body, Bombardier Mitrac propulsion and control system, the rail cars offer improved performance and reduce operating costs.
