Alstom Florence tramway line 2

Tram di Firenze consortium member Alstom has delivered the first 100m of Florence’s new tramway Line 2 in Novoli, Italy.

The contract awarded to Tram di Firenze by the municipal council included the turnkey construction of Line 2 and the first stretch of Line 3 of the city’s tramway system.

The concession also includes the management of the entire system, including Line 1, which was built under a separate contract.

Under the deal, Alstom is responsible for the installation of the tracks, the contact lines, the substations as well as the lighting and electrical distribution.

"Alstom is committed to contributing to Florence’s tramway system by executing the project on time while guaranteeing the highest standards of quality."

Alstom’s site in Guidonia, Italy, which is specialised in the production of railway infrastructure, is in charge of the project.

Alstom Transport Italy managing director Pierre-Louis Bertina said: "As this project milestone shows, Alstom is committed to contributing to Florence’s tramway system by executing the project on time while guaranteeing the highest standards of quality."
