A third official has lost his job following China's worst rail accident in more than a decade, according to local reports.

The Deputy Director of the railway bureau of Jinan, Guo Jiguang, was sacked over the crash in east China when a high-speed passenger train from Beijing heading for the summer resort of Qingdao derailed, hitting a another train travelling from Yantai to Xuzhou.

Jiguang is now the subject of an investigation by the Chinese Ministry of Railways, according to state news agency Xinhua.

Two other officials were sacked after the crash on Monday; Chen Gong lost his job as Director of the railway bureau along with Communist Party Chief Chai Tiemin.
