Deutsche Bahn And GDL Agree on Wage Deal

German rail operator Deutsche Bahn and train drivers union GDL have reached a final wage deal after months of negotiations and rail strikes.

Under the agreement, the train drivers will get an eight percent pay raise from March 2008 and a further three percent from September 2008.

Drivers will also receive a one-off payment of €800 for the period July 2007 to February 2008, in addition to cutting working hours by one hour a week without a loss in pay.
